Gavin Smith

He isn't the most well known professional poker player from Canada, but he is one of the best.  His biggest and his only seven figure win was his first place finish in the 2005 Mirage Poker Showdown, but he has finished deep in the money in many other high profile poker tournaments.  He was the WPT player of the year in 2006.  He has won over $4,000,000 during his poker career so far and he doesn't seem to be slowing down, so far in 2008 he has won over $700,000.  He is currently the number three ranked Canadian for all-time winnings, but should pass Tuan Lam within a year.  You can watch and play against Gavin Smith online at the Fulltiltpoker.com poker room.
    Gavin had a late start in his poker career, (compared to other professional poker players) he didn't start playing poker till his mid twenties.  Before playing poker professionally he was a dealer.  Gavin opened up his own poker club two years later.  He has cashed in WSOP events on a regular basis, but seems to do better in the WPT circuit.
